Tara Bernerd & Partners’ handsome signature style is one of approachable luxury with an industrial edge, and each space possesses a masculine, and ultimately timeless, elegance.
Tara Bernerd and Partners’ projects are located all over the world, including New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, and others. Four Seasons, Fort Capital, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Belmond, Starwood Capital, Thompson Hotels, SIXTY Hotels, Palace Hotels, and the Berkeley Group are among the company’s key clients.
Bernerd and her team strive to instil a sense of authenticity in each property by developing a distinct design DNA that is true to both the location and the people who will call it home. The team seeks to create meaning and connection through a distinct sense of place, whether in a hotel lobby, a restaurant, or a private residence.
Tara Bernerd & Partners, who designed the original restaurant at The Hari London, was asked to revisit and reimagine the design for Il Pampero to coincide with the hotel’s rebrand.
Bernerd and her team created a bespoke design scheme that embraces informal luxury by fusing Italian hospitality with the Belgravian lifestyle. Bold Vespa-green lacquers and rich velvets mix with soft leathers and heritage fabrics to create a welcoming atmosphere. While circular booths line the back and sidewalls, the striking central bar is the focal point, where diners can partake in the Italian tradition of Aperitivo.
Tara Bernerd & Partners designed Lucciola, one of The Hari Hong Kong’s two restaurants. Bernerd and her team wanted to capture the essence of Italy. The floor is covered in a bright green and white patterned encaustic tile. A wrap-around cognac leather banquette seat borders one corner of the restaurant, with free-standing tables in the middle and a taller stool seating at the bar.
A long art gallery wall finished in Tadelakt polished plaster runs behind the banquette, adding drama to the space. The bar itself is fronted in beautiful green marble, with a quirky bespoke-designed brass shelving unit at the back showcasing the bottles to their best advantage.
Tara Bernerd & Partners was in charge of the entire interior design and architecture for Nico Osteria at Thompson Chicago. Bernerd and her team created a go-to destination for guests and locals alike in the heart of the Windy City by leading the design for the restaurant, bar, and private dining. One-Off Hospitality, a leading Chicago restaurateur, operates the restaurant, and elements like exposed brickwork, rich leathers, and seductive lighting pay homage to its urban location with a rough luxury aesthetic.
Tara Bernerd & Partners designed one of The Hari Hong Kong’s two restaurants. Zoku, a Japanese restaurant, is an elegant, richly designed space with a pink palette that contrasts with khaki velvet banquettes and leathers. In keeping with modern dining trends, the restaurant is divided into two sections: a more traditionally formal dining area with angled booth seating on one side and more lounge seating on the other. Over the dark timber floor that runs throughout the space, bespoke rugs with unique in-house designs are set.
The kitchen is partially hidden behind a wall of Critall with fluted glass, adding to the drama and atmosphere of the dining experience. This fluted theme is carried through to the front of the bar, this time in timber.
