Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenée

Ducasse’s most ambitious project to date, this 3 Michelin star restaurant takes an architectural approach to dining. In lieu of flashy decor, the favors simple furnishings that let the food take center stage. Finely molded dove-colored walls in the traditional style are complemented by modern table settings and furniture with a splash of orange, all illuminated by an immense chandelier of delicate crystals suspended on invisible strings. Ducasse’s chefs use only the best ingredients, sourced according to the season, to ensure that each dish reaches its full flavor potential. Langoustine tartare is seasoned only with lime juice, salt, and pepper so as not to obscure its pure ocean taste.

Restaurant Guy Savoy is a culinary shrine to the skills of its namesake. Renowned not only for its food but also for impeccable service, characterized by happiness and conviviality instead of inaccessible aloofness, this 3 Michelin star restaurant consistently enthralls its diners and is a source of inspiration for many other chefs. Signature dishes include Savoy’s artichoke soup dressed with black truffle shavings and accompanied by brioche slathered with truffle butter and the chocolate orb dessert, over which warm mango coulis is poured at the last minute to create a delicious melting effect. One of the oldest restaurants in Paris, Pavillon Ledoyen first opened its doors 1792 and was the place to see and be seen during the Belle Époque. Today, the rich décor harks back to its historical legacy with ornate stucco details and silk brocades, but the real pièce de résistance here is the stunning French haute cuisine. Earning the top mark of three Michelin stars, the restaurant serves modern dishes inspired by classical French fare from Chef Yannick Alléno.

Il Carpaccio

Looking for superb Italian food in the French capital? Head to Il Carpaccio in the luxurious Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris, the only Michelin star Italian restaurant in Paris. Helmed by Pompeii-born chef Roberto Rispoli, it’s a spectacular space with equally impressive food. (During my last visit, the calzone with hay was quite a treat.) Rispoli, who once worked at Alain Ducasse’s La Trattoria Toscana, serves seasonal Italian fare inspired by family traditions—to fantastic results. Think home-cooked meals presented in exquisite French fashion. But prepare to spend more than you would elsewhere: This is fine dining through and through—and best reserved for special occasions, celebrations, and romantic date nights.

Wines and champagnes are kept in a specially created wine cellar opening onto the dining room, while a special chef’s table in the kitchen allows guests a closer view of what’s going on. Dishes include such lavish offerings as sautéed blue lobster with champagne, sea bass with gold leaf risotto and scallops with white alba truffle foam.

Le Bien Venu

As hotelier Adrien Gloaguen’s most recent project (owner of Hôtel Paradis and Hôtel Panache), Hotel Bienvenue has just opened as well as its restaurant Le Bien Venu. The venue boasts pink leather banquets and Khaki walls, and like the rest of the hotel, is designed by Chloé Nègre. In the kitchen, the duo of multi-cultural chefs, the Japanese born Maori Murota and Corsican Florent Ciccoli, create a vibrant cuisine fusing Parisian brasserie style with Asian recipes and natural products. The egg mayo and Chinese lettuce, veggie Donburi spring rolls, croque monsieurs and moist cakes with miso placed, as well as the small plates on the menu in the evening are must-try.

This Michelin-star restaurant was opened by Chef Jean Pierre Vigato in 2004. Apicius extends over a number of rooms in the magnificent Hotel Schneider, previously the residence of 19th-century man of affairs, the Marquis de Talhouët. Guests can choose to dine in the Dining Room, the Klimt Room – adorned with superb reproductions of Klimt’s golden-toned artworks – or the Petit Salon, an intimate room for six to eight people.

Le Cinq at Four Seasons George V

Reminiscent of an ornate château dining room, Le Cinq is undoubtedly the luxurious and one of the trendy Paris restaurant you want to see. The elegant dining room bathed in gold, the oil paintings adorning the walls and the beautiful flower arrangements all set the scene for this gastronomic experience. Awarded three Michelin stars, it serves classic French food with a contemporary inflection, with menus changing seasonally to make the most of each ingredient chosen. Chef Christian Le Squer ’s delicious creations include traditional fares such as roasted grouse alongside more modern dishes such as lightly smoked eel with black bread and grape juice reduction.
