NC Design and Architecture is an architectural design firm which specialises in residential, commercial and hospitality projects, based in Hong-Kong. Covering full design services, bespoke furniture and innovative products, the design firm is interested in developing creative projects that reinvent the experience of space through meaningful connections.
For NC Design and Architecture, storytelling is the art of inspiration; their projects exist at the intersection of art and architecture, helping to start creative collaborations, stimulate interesting conversations and deliver projects with their own identity that tell a unique story. So it is no wonder the studio was invited to design a new restaurant called Eat Darling Eat.
Eat Darling Eat is located in Hong-Kong’s Causeway Bay Fashion Walk shopping centre. The instantly recognisable dessert lab takes design references and its sweet colour palette from the delicious treats that it serves, which including local favourites, pineapple buns, tong sui and egg tarts.
Eat Darling Eat offers customers a visual respite from the bustling Causeway Bay that surrounds, providing a moment of calm and fun with whimsical interiors which mirror the imaginative, eclectic menu of delicious treats, allowing to rediscover classic childhood desserts, with a contemporary twist.
The interior stimulates visual senses with a colour palette that echoes vibrant sugary hues with furniture designs taking on the form of ingredients, all creating a fun and theatrical experience for adults and children alike.
Yellow tinted glass divides the two levels of the lab. Upstairs a pink lounge with a reflective floor and ceiling create an Instagrammable backdrop for customers to take photos and enjoy their desserts.
The rounded corners of the lounge soften the presence of the interior while imprinted vivid optical illusions adorn the walls, furthering the curiosity and intrigue which is echoed in the brand’s experimental menu.
NC Design and Architecture focused on creating several destinations for guests to experience, providing a range of furniture designs, from bar stools, booth seating and, lounge areas, in a range of colourful hues to suit every preference.
